On Sep. 23, the Dos Palos High School girls tennis team officially started off their league season. The girls tennis team will play a total of nine games against the same three schools a total of three times: Coalinga, Avenal, and Firebaugh.

The girls tennis team faced some challenges at the start of the league. While playing Coalinga, the players gave it their all and played with spirit, but were eventually overcome by their opponents.

Although some girls from the Dos Palos High School team rose as victors, the odds were in favor of Coalinga, as they had more overall wins.

In Avenal, the same thing occurred. While the girls played their best, their opponents emerged as the victors. Since the beginning of their competition against these three schools, their third game of the league was by far their best yet.

The third game was against Firebaugh, one of the Dos Palos girls tennis team’s biggest rivals. At first, the odds seemed to be in favor of the Firebaugh tennis team, with 2 wins and 1 loss. It wasn’t until the girls tennis singles matches began that everything started to change for the better.

Gennesis Ramirez – DPHS varsity’s number two – dominated her opponent, winning both of her sets. Ramirez played hard and with determination, bringing home one of the team’s most important wins. Her teammates, Kelly and Kiara, also contributed to their overall win of 5-4.

The Dos Palos girls tennis team had a rough start, but it seems to be getting better as their league season progresses.
