A woman was arrested for allegedly stealing a car and several other items last month, the Dos Palos Police Department revealed recently.

On Sept. 2 police announced the Aug. 12 arrest of Dominga Ruby Rios. She was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand theft of money, property and labor, petty theft and trespassing and obstructing operations of a business. She is currently being held in Merced County Jail on $70,000 bond.

According to Dos Palos police, on Aug. 11, a report was received of a stolen Chevrolet truck in the 1900 block of Center Avenue.

The next day police located the truck near Elgin and Shain avenues. Rios was reportedly inside the vehicle with an unidentified male. The pair was detained, police said.

After further investigation police took Rios into custody. The Dos Palos Police Department has not disclosed the circumstances leading to the accusations that are not directly tied to the vehicle theft.
