On April 15, Los Banos High School (LBHS) held its annual spring art show, which gave students a chance to showcase their creativity and hard work throughout the school year.
Every year the art department hosts one show in the fall and one show in the spring. Students’ artwork is displayed in the multipurpose building. Throughout the day students were able to visit the show. After school it was open to the public, giving families and community members a chance to check it out.
The show featured various pieces, from drawings and paintings to more hands-on projects like grills and fire pits made by students in agricultural mechanics. Digital media students displayed their animations, short films and creative designs, while photography students had their section filled with standout photos.
Performing arts also had their moment. The drama club added live music, piano, choir and acting performances throughout the day.
LBHS offers many different art classes, including Drawing and Painting, Sculpture and Design, Digital Media and Visual Design. Each was represented in the show, creating a diverse collection of styles and projects.
Along with the art show, the Associated Student Body hosted a contest where students could vote for their favorite art pieces. Categories included ceramics, sculpture, photography and digital media. QR codes were posted around the building, leading to a Google Form where students could cast their votes. Winners from each category took home a prize.
One of the newest parts included in the show this year was an interactive art station where students could make their flower crowns using pipe cleaners. It was a fun way to have students take a little piece of the art show with them.
Overall, the spring art show was a great way to bring the school together and celebrate the creativity of students at LBHS. With everything from traditional art, digital pieces and live performances, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
