The sun is shining, flowers are blooming, and the Maker’s Market is gearing up for their first event of the Spring season. Rather than waiting for the first chill of the season to hold the annual winter boutique, the makers behind it are reuniting for a slightly warmer art bazaar.
Still being held at the Ted Falasco Arts Center, the Spring market will have all the quality crafts of the winter market with some added spring flair.
The Market has always been funded by the Los Banos Council of Arts, and this Spring event is no different: vendors and council members alike were eager for the chance to bring another community-focused event to the spring season.
Darla Fagundes, one of the coordinators of the event, is excited for the chance to show what this year’s vendors have to offer while supporting the community. “It’s really just a day to get out and support local vendors,” says Fagundes, “that, and these events help keep the Falasco Art Center running.”
With the shift in season comes also a shift in theme, and vendors are leaving the holiday flair for the winter months and will instead have crafts and treats made with Mother’s Day in mind.
Fans of the winter boutique will recognize some familiar faces, such as the folks at Mel Soares art studio, who will be selling more of their amazing wood carvings.
The various seamstress vendors are eager to show off this year’s selection of spring-themed designs, and embroidery enthusiasts will have a bigger selection of thread and cloth projects to browse when Fresno-based Heart Strings comes to the Market.

An array of jewelry will be on display as well from various vendors, offering one of the widest selections in Los Banos of shiny gifts for mom.
As always, attendees will be able to fight hunger (and sweet tooths) with the help of food carts and dessert vendors.
Churros will be a prominent feature of the market in honor of the event’s proximity to Cinco de Mayo, and the culinary artisans of Delicioso will be offering even more baked goods to patrons who are ready to get creative with their dessert.
Candy will be sold by Nana Steph, who will offer attendees the chance to buy sweet gifts for Mother’s Day or, for the more impatient gourmands, ready-to-eat treats that will make any candy fan glad.
The first-ever Spring Maker’s Market will be held, April 26 with doors opening at 9 a.m. and vendors will be selling their wares until 3 p.m. The Ted Falasco Art Center is located on 5th and K Street. Entry is free, and everyone is encouraged to come out and support the arts and your local artists.
Los Banos’ local craftsman are eager to show the community what they’ve been working on, and with plenty of great Mother’s Day gifts available at the first spring event, this fresh take on a vendor fair promises to be a great event for everyone (and their mother).
