On December 16, 2024, Robert Emmett Gauper, aged 85, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Los Banos, CA with loved ones by his side.
Robert, better known as Bob, was born on June 9, 1939 in Sacramento, CA as the son of Emmett Gordon Gauper and Lucille Cabel Hendrix. Bob was the first of three children (Kenneth and Patricia.)
After being raised in Portland, Oregon, Bob moved to California seeking a career change. Bob was a “Jack of All Trades” and did several different jobs during his lifetime. In 1980 he met DiAnn Carroll Yerrick at a BPD Elk’s dinner dance and married her on December 12, 1981.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking, playing gin rummy with DiAnn, and was known for his magnificent luck in a game of dice. Additionally, he was a member of the Odd Fellows, Native Sons, and was a 52 year member of the Elk’s Lodge. Bob loved old westerns, Fox News, taking the dogs on walks, and sneaking BoBo treats and snacks. Most of all, Bob loved his wife, his family and friends, and his dogs.
Without a doubt, the dogs were his favorite.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Emmett and Lucille, his step-mother Elizabeth Gauper, and his brother, Kenneth Gauper.
He is survived by his wife, DiAnn; son, Donovan; daughter, Laura; sister, Patricia; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; 5 step-children Daren, Mark, Michael, Jennifer, and Jason; and a multitude of extended family, who will all miss him dearly.
A celebration of life luncheon will be held in Bob’s honor on January 18, 2025 at the Los Banos Sportsmen’s Association located at 13989 Mercy Springs Rd. at 12 p.m. An interment will be held at a later date. Should you be inclined, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to a charity of your choosing.
