(Editor’s note: The Westside Express, as it did for Mayor Paul Llanez, is giving Mayor Michael Amabile an opportunity to communicate with Los Banos residents. As this newspaper did for Mayor Llanez, it is providing Mayor Amabile’s message as he created it, unedited.)
As your newly elected mayor, I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve this incredible community once again. Los Banos has always been a special place, rich in history and community spirit, and I am committed to working with all of you to ensure it continues to thrive. Together, we can build a brighter future—one that reflects our shared values of transparency, integrity, and community well-being.
Creating a safe and inclusive environment
The safety of our residents is paramount. I will work to provide the resources our police, fire and emergency services need to maintain a secure environment for all. At the same time, we must address complex issues, such as homelessness, with compassion and a strong determination.
Investing in jobs
To make Los Banos a community where everyone can thrive, we must prioritize economic growth. This means bringing good-paying jobs to town by fostering a business-friendly environment and attracting industries that offer sustainable opportunities for our workforce. In addition, we need to invest in middle-class housing to ensure that families and individuals can afford to live here while maintaining the charm and character of our community.
A community in which to work, live and play
Los Banos should be a place where people are proud to work, live and play. By expanding recreational opportunities, improving public spaces and supporting local businesses, we can create a vibrant, connected community. Our vision must encompass not only economic growth but also quality-of-life improvements that make Los Banos a desirable place for everyone.
Moving forward together
None of this can be achieved without your support and active involvement. Consider volunteering, joining a city commission, or lending a hand at the animal shelter. I encourage each of you to share your ideas, concerns and aspirations for our city. Together, we can tackle challenges and embrace the opportunities ahead. With transparency, integrity and a united commitment to progress, I am confident we can make Los Banos an even better place for current and future generations.
