For small communities like Dos Palos, receiving quality healthcare usually means travelling to bigger cities.

However, local residents have been able to call on Apex Health Center, which recently not only remodeled its facility in Dos Palos but also expanded its services.

Last week, a “grand opening” for the community was held at Apex, which is located in downtown Dos Palos. It featured a tour of the facility, food prepared by the Dos Palos Lions Club and a free raffle.

It was also a celebration for the staff members and an opportunity to introduce pediatrician Dr. Bipin Kandel, MD, to the community. Kandel will now provide medical services for newborns to adolescents.

Apex opened in Dos Palos in 2018 and is co-owned by Dr. Devireddy Karthikeya and Administrator Debbie Perry, RN.

The grand opening was a special day for Perry, a native of Dos Palos.

“I was born and raised in Dos Palos, so this celebration is especially personal,” Perry told the gathering. “This is the community that helped shape who I am, and being able to help bring quality healthcare to the place I grew up is something I am truly proud of. It is a privilege to serve the families, friends, and neighbors who make this town home.”

Over the past eight years, Apex has offered a wide array of services, and with Kandel now on board, the center will now offer even more.

“We began serving patients at this location in 2018,” said Karthikeya. “As we looked toward the future, we want to bring more healthcare services to Dos Palos.

“In 2025, we expanded our facility to make room for that growth with one goal: to provide accessible, compassionate, quality healthcare closer to home.

“We offer family medicine and chiropractic care, and this September, we welcomed pediatric care with Dr. Kandel. We are excited to support more local families and help care for their children as they grow.”

Karthikeya added that there are plans to welcome another family medicine physician next July to help serve more patients.

“Our future vision also includes adding podiatry and behavioral health services here in Dos Palos. As we grow, we welcome your feedback about what your families need,” he said.

So, local families have the opportunity to take advantage of important medical services without having to drive as Apex continues its goal of serving Dos Palos.

“Thank you again for celebrating with us and giving us the opportunity to serve you,” Perry said. “I am so happy to be part of this next chapter for my hometown, and I look forward to seeing this health center grow with our community.”
