Pacheco High School’s boys and girls basketball seasons are coming to an end after months of practices, conditioning and matchups.

The boys basketball team recently had a match against Fred C. Beyer High School on Feb. 6, where they lost with a final score of 86–40. Despite the loss, the team prepared for their upcoming final games.

The team hosted their final home game on Feb. 11, which also served as senior night to honor the graduating senior athletes for their commitment and contributions to the program.

The gym was filled with classmates, family members and staff who came out to celebrate the seniors’ final moments playing on their home court. The team faced Grace M. Davis High School soon after.

Feb. 13 marked their final game of the season, traveling away to close out their schedule. All funds collected went toward supporting PHS’s athletic programs, helping fund equipment, uniforms and future team needs.

Head coach of the boys team, Tyrell Jenkins, said, “Our season is gonna be a success because every kid was eligible to play starting and finishing, and we didn’t win as many games as we would’ve liked.

“We’re probably five and 17 right now, but we work hard. They show up every day to practice, and they put time in, so to me that’s a successful season regardless of it.”

Looking at the girls side of the season, they are now advancing into the playoffs. They placed No. 2 in the playoffs. With everything locked in and preparation underway, the team will compete at a high level as they continue their postseason journey.
