Over this past weekend and continuing into this week, the Los Banos Tiger freshman basketball team traveled to Merced to play in the Golden Valley Holiday Tournament.
On Friday the young Tigers played two games. The first game was against the Patterson Tigers and then against the Summerville Bears.
The Tigers struggled in both games as they were unable to overcome the high pressure press defenses of both the Tigers or Bears, dropping a 55-27 decision to Patterson, then losing 58-45 to the Summerville Bears.
In the Patterson contest, Grayson Houtekamer (11 points, 8 rebounds) paced the Tigers, while Jax Jorge (4 points, 4 rebounds), Adrian DeLaCruz (4 points, 5 rebounds), Giovanni Rivera-Oates (3 points, 7 rebounds) and Braden Silva (2 points, 6 rebounds) completed the scoring for Los Banos.
Braden Silva (15 points, 7 rebounds) turned in an all-around excellent performance against the Bears, followed by Jax Jorge (9 points, 1 rebound), Adrian DeLaCruz (8 points, 4 rebounds), Giovanni Riveria-Oates (7 points, 4 rebounds) and Emiliano Chavez (4 points, 5 rebounds).
The Tigers played Sonora on Dec. 29 and then again on Dec. 30 to conclude the tournament.
