The beginning of a new chapter is always brought by the close of another. On Dec. 8, Dos Palos High School held its annual fall sports banquet, recognizing players for their hard work and personal grit.
Fall sports are nothing short of hard work and perseverance. Athletes train tirelessly over the summer, succumbing to the sun’s tireless beam of heat; however, they move forward and strive for success.
This act of relentless pursuit proves itself throughout the athlete’s sports seasons, which have been remarkably successful this year. Girls’ tennis, football, and girls’ volleyball all made it to the CIF Section, something that is achieved through countless wins and arduous work.
The banquets held are established to recognize the athlete’s individual contribution to their respective sport and give them recognition for it.
For the fall sports, girls’ volleyball, cross country, girls’ tennis, and flag football were being recognized for their successful and amazing performances throughout their respective seasons.
Before the different sports teams are split up to properly give out the athletes’ awards for their performances and personal sympathetic aptitude, the athletes who have maintained a 4.0 GPA are recognized. These students receive a certificate stating they have maintained a 4.0 GPA, balancing their academic life alongside their athletic one.
After these certificates are given out, the coaches of every sport split up and deliver their personal awards to their athletes. The most notable awards are the Coach’s Award and MVP.
The Coach’s Award is often given to a student athlete who displays determination and perseverance. This includes an individual who never gives up despite challenges they may face, being kind and considerate.
The MVP award is given to the student who, in the coach’s opinion, has improved significantly from the beginning of the season and has shown a great understanding of their sport.
Those who do not receive awards receive certificates acknowledging their time and dedication given to their sport, along with letterman varsity jacket patches. Likewise, all the fall sports athletes did an amazing job this year, and every single person deserves recognition for their resilience.
