The Merced County Office of Education (MCOE), in partnership with the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE), has launched the Bright Beginnings Grant Program, a regional initiative to help childcare providers open a successful home-based childcare business.

Funded by the Catalyst Grant through North Valley Thrive, Bright Beginnings will provide applicants with a $2,500 start-up grant, along with culturally and linguistically relevant training, ongoing mentorship and a five-week business course at UC Merced.

The goal of the program is to increase the number of local licensed childcare providers and address childcare shortages in both counties.

The program is open to residents in Merced or Stanislaus counties, including aspiring childcare providers and individuals interested in building a sustainable small business while supporting young children and families.

Applications are now open with 40 slots available. For more information or to apply, visit mcoe.org/care.
