My name is Sidney Silveira. I’m a senior at Los Banos High, and I’m happy to become a part of The Express to gain more experience as a journalist.
I grew up in Hilmar, which is a small town located near Turlock. In 2015, my family and I moved to Los Banos, and we have lived there for 10 years now.
I’m currently involved in a few clubs, including the Distributive Education Clubs of America, the Interact Club and the Art Club.
Alongside these clubs, my journalism class has taught me many useful skills, such as how to interview people and how to stay up to date with information in order to get it to the public as quickly as possible.
My journalism teacher, Mrs. Kimberly McCullough, has helped me reach this point in my journalism career. I thank her and the community around me for influencing my growth in this field.
After high school, I plan to attend a four-year university to study either marketing or early childhood education. I hope to join a journalism club at the college I get accepted into so that I can further my knowledge of the subject.
As I prepare for graduation this year, I am grateful for the opportunity to write for the town newspaper and open a new path in my journalism journey.
