The deadline for mailing ballots for the special all-mail election for the Los Banos District 1 council seat is coming soon.
All ballots must be postmarked or dropped off at the Los Banos City Hall or the Merced County Elections Office by Aug. 26. Mailed ballots have to be received by Sept. 2.
Results must be certified by Sept. 25.
The election features two candidates, Misty Perez and Khalid Virry Sanchez.
Early results on the Merced County Elections Office website show that only 300 ballots have been received, far less than half of the number of registered voters in District 1.
