On Saturday night July 5, the Los Banos Little League 12-and-under All-Star team came back from an earlier loss to the Atwater All-Stars to win two games and claim the District 73 Little League Championship.

The local Little Leaguers opened the all-star tournament with a 4-0 victory over the Turlock American All-Stars. Los Banos collected nine base hits, led by Noah Landrum (3 AB, 2 H, 0 R, 2 RBI’s), Brayden Von Allman, (3 AB, 2 H, 1 R), Jackson Dias (2 AB, 2 H, 1 R), Carson Corral (2 AB, 1 H, 1 R, 1 RBI), Stratton Wooten (2 AB, 1 H, 1 RBI) and Nico Caropreso (3 AB, 1 H, 1 RBI) to score their four runs.

The offense complemented the excellent pitching performance by Nico Caropreso (W, 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 7 K’s), who paced Los Banos to the 4-0 shutout victory. 

Los Banos dropped their first game with Atwater, setting up a need to win two games against Atwater to claim the District 73 title. After Los Banos won the first game, it all came down to the second, winner-take-all game.

Stratton Wooten (W, 6 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 6 Ks) pitched a complete game en route to a 5 -2 victory for Los Banos.

Meanwhile, Landrum (1 AB, 1 H, 1 R), Caropreso (2 AB, 1 H, 1 R, 1 RBI), Corral (2 AB, 1 HR, 1 R, 1 RBI) and Von Allman (3 AB, 2 H, 1 R) provided the offense as Los Banos defeated Atwater for the second time and claiming the District 73 Little League title.

Next up for the Los Banos 12U Little League All-Star team will be the section tournament to be held at the Soderquist Field in Turlock beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday July 12.
