On May 9, ground was officially broken on the latest addition to Los Banos health care. Health care representatives and county officials participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for Sutter Health’s newest clinic at 801 West L Street.
Slated to open its doors early 2026, this new clinic is set to bring a dozen new clinicians to the area and expand on Sutter’s established mental health resources in the county.
Funded through the California Alliance for Health, Sutter aims to strengthen local residents’ access to healthcare with this newest facility. Similar to the existing clinic on I Street, this latest will be non-profit, meaning that any and all funds generated by the facility will be reinvested back into the community facility.

“Sutter Health wants to be a part of the solution when it comes to having better access to care overall,” said Liz Madison, Sutter Health’s media relations manager. “Part of that means supporting the communities we’re trying to help, in any way that we can.”
This facility will focus on mental health and mental health services, expanding these services for the residents who need them.
Some Los Banos residents may be wondering about the prioritization of establishing new clinics over expanding the hospital in Los Banos. A large part of the answer lies in the ever-complicated world of funding, according to Madison. Programs that are designed to help underserved or rural communities with additional clinics have been given during the past decade financial incentives, such as California Alliance for Health’s grant.
The establishment of various clinics in different areas of town also aligns with Sutter Health’s mission to make it easier for anyone in any part of town to be within reach of a reliable doctor, Madison said.
Though the grand opening has no official date yet, county officials are eager to open Los Banos’ latest clinic doors early next year. New and returning patients can look forward to meeting doctors and nurses ready to help the community.
