As winter approaches, it’s the time of year where Dos Palos High School has its concert to showcase its bands where they present the skills they’ve acquired throughout the year.

On Dec. 11, the DPHS and the Bryant Middle School bands had their annual winter concert at the Dos Palos theater.

The DPHS band has worked and practiced countless hours to prepare for the concert starting in November. Not only has it practiced for the concert, but it has also prepared for its last competition of the season.

Bryant Middle School band started its showcase at 6 p.m., followed by DPHS with its concert starting at 7 p.m.

DPHS has multiple bands. The beginning band played a set of pieces, including Christmas carols. Meanwhile, the jazz band performed a longer set consisting of other pieces and Christmas carols, such as “A Child is Born.”

The bands also performed the pieces “Too Cool for Yule,” “And All the Bells Shall Ring!” “Appalachian Carol,” and “Bell Carol a La Big Band.” Finally, the band also played “Santa Baby” accompanied by vocalist Nira Magdaleno.
