Los Banos High Tigers boys basketball team kicked off the 2024-2025 season with a thrilling 71-50 victory over the Pacheco Panthers. This game, held on Nov. 19, marked the beginning of what promises to be an exciting basketball season in Los Banos.
From the start, the Tigers struggled. They came out turning the ball over but quickly started to turn it around. The end of the first quarter saw the Tigers lead with a score of 14-13.
The second quarter continued with both teams struggling to score. The Tigers finished off the first half having attempted 17 shots and only knocking down 4. By halftime, the score was 27-26, with the Tigers in the lead. The Panthers also struggled to find their rhythm, as the Tigers recorded a total of 20 steals and 16 deflections.
After the halftime break, the Tigers dominated the boards and pushed the pace, adding to their lead. The third quarter saw them outscore the Panthers 16-11, bringing the score to 43-37. The Tigers’ ability to maintain their defensive pressure and execute their offensive plays was a major part of their success.
In the final quarter, the Tigers controlled the game, outscoring the Panthers 27-13, making the final score 71-50.
