The former drug store in downtown Los Banos at 601 J Street is bustling once again—this time, as Santa’s Workshop.

Transformed into a winter wonderland by the Los Banos Downtown Association, led by Executive Director Maribel Garcia, the space is filled with holiday lights, decorations and festive cheer.

The kickoff for “Santaland” took place on November 30, when Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted visitors and posed for photos. Guests enjoyed warm beverages, sweet treats and the joy of the holiday season.

“This is a way to bring more joy to the holidays,” Garcia said, “and to encourage more people to come downtown to support our businesses.”

Although Santa himself only appeared on November 30, the workshop will remain open on December 7, 12 and 19 for families to take their own photos. Hours of operation will be announced soon, so visitors can enjoy this festive photo opportunity.

In addition to Santaland, the Los Banos Downtown Association is sponsoring a window decoration contest among downtown merchants with this year’s theme, “We Are All Stars.”

The theme highlights resilience and perseverance, encouraging everyone to keep shining brightly despite life’s challenges. Winners will be announced on Dec. 19.

Garcia also extended her gratitude to the sponsors of the Farm to Table event, noting that a percentage of the funds raised was donated to FFA students and another percentage helped support the new downtown lighting project.

“We hope many families visit Santa in his workshop and enjoy the holidays downtown,” Garcia said. “Merry Christmas to all!”
