The Los Banos City Council meeting set for today will be a changing of the guard, with the current council certifying the results of the Nov. 5 election, and then the newly elected mayor and council members being sworn in and taking charge.
The agenda for the Dec. 4 meeting has been posted showing this process. The new council will consist of Mayor Michael Amabile, returning Councilmember Kenneth Lambert and returning Councilmember Deborah Lewis.
Two of the seats on the dais will be vacant, with city Districts 2 and 3 unrepresented after the recall of Douglas Begonia, Jr. and Brett Jones.
Later in the meeting, according to council agenda item 12, the three members of the new council will deal with “Consideration of options to fill the City of Los Banos Council Member vacancies in Districts 2 and 3.”
Also on the agenda are resolutions of commendations for outgoing Mayor Paul Llanez and Councilmembers Begonia and Jones.
The agenda also includes standard items such as a public forum, report from the city manager, a proclamation (in honor of retiring city employee Dan Bronson) and a recognition (of the city employee of the month Christy McCammond).
The consent agenda for the meeting is very short, including only three items.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. and will be televised on Comcast channel 96 or live on YouTube.
