Rebecca Cerda Lerma was born April 25, 1928 in Mission, Texas. She moved to Dos Palos in her thirties with her family as a farm worker. She passed away at her home in Dos Palos surrounded by family on Sunday November 10, 2024 at the age of 96.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents Cecila and Francisco Cerda, three brothers Ruben, Rodolfo, and Francisco Jr. Cerda, her husband Francisco Lerma, one sister Raquel Zuniga, one son Carlos Cerda Lerma Sr., one grandson Librado Torres Jr., and two granddaughters Amythest Bri-Ann Ortiz and Mandy Lerma.

She is survived by two sisters Maria Olivia (Guera) Escalante and Olga Alaniz, two sons John and Roy Lerma, four daughters Diana Vargas, San Juana Llamas, Nora Ruiz, and Dora Lerma, 23 grandchildren, 76 great grandchildren, 31 great great grandchildren and too many nieces and nephews to count.

Rebecca enjoyed her last working years with the children at the South Dos Palos Head Start. She will be remembered for her love of dancing and cooking. She will be missed by family and friends who enjoyed her frequent visits.

Memorial Services are being held on Tuesday November 19th, 2024, in Dos Palos. There will be 9 am viewing at Fiero Family Funeral Home. The Rosary at 1030 am at Sacred Heart Church followed by an 11 am Mass. She will be laid to rest at Dos Palos Cemetery at 1230. Her Celebration of Life will follow at the D.E.S. Hall. Rebecca always told her kids and grandkids “When I die, don’t cry. Have a party with music and remember my life. Because I will be with my GOD.”
