A driver and three passengers were taken to the hospital after hitting the rear end of a big rig.

On Wednesday, July 17, at 3:33 p.m. a male driving a Chevrolet Camaro with three male passengers were traveling eastbound on Pacheco Boulevard as they were entering Los Banos and approaching Badger Flat Road.

According to Los Banos Police Officer Efren Fernandez, traffic was stopped at the signal and the driver of the Camaro drove into the back of a semi-truck trailer carrying pallets.

Two of the four victims console each other following the read-end accident.

Officer Fernandez said the driver and his passengers, all of Los Banos, were returning from work in the Bay Area and the driver fell asleep and drove into the back of the trailer at a speed of about 50 to 60 miles per hour.

Two of the vehicle’s occupants were not wearing seat belts and sustained major injuries with one being airlifted to a hospital. Officer Fernandez said the other two were wear seatbelts and sustained minor injuries and were transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

According to Officer Fernandez no drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident.
