The City of Los Banos has officially posted a notice that “a General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, the 5th day of November 2024 for the following offices: Mayor (two-year full term), City Council Member District 1 (four-year full term), City Council Member District 4 (four-year full term) and City Treasurer (two-year full term).”

The first date to file for these offices was July 15 and the last date to file is Aug. 9.

The notice, published on July 10 by Lucy Mallonee, Los Banos City Clerk and City Elections Official, also states that “candidate filing will take place at a different location.

“Forms for declaring candidacy are available at the Merced County Registrar of Voters Central Count Facility, located at 250 E. 15th Street, Merced, by appointment only.”

The notice also states polls will be open between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on early voting days and 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day and notes that “the qualifications of a nominee and of an elective officer of the City are as follows: Must be a resident of and qualified elector in the City of Los Banos.”

The incumbents for the four offices are Paul Llanez (mayor), Kenneth Lambert (City Council District 1), Deborah Lewis (City Council District 4), and Lucy Lawrence, who was appointed city treasurer by the current council.
