The Los Banos Tiger boys volleyball team (3-2 WAC) split last week’s two league matches.  The Tigers swept the Johansen Vikings in three straight sets on Tuesday, March 14th.  Los Banos coach J.T. Barcellos praised the play of Jason Eratchu, Evan Rebosa, Emmanuel Morales, and Brandon Diaz, as they were all over the court making plays in all three matches.

On Thursday, March 16, the Tigers dropped a hard-fought five-set battle with the Ceres Bulldogs.  Ceres claimed the first two sets, defeating the Tigers 25-22 in the first set and then winning the second set by scoring 25-18.  Los Banos came roaring back to claim the third and fourth sets.  An ace serve by Emmanual Morales recorded the 25th point in the Tiger’s 25-10 third-set victory.  Brandon Diaz recorded the winning 25th point in the fourth set when the Bulldogs could not return his serve.  In the fifth and deciding set, the two teams went back and forth, but Ceres pulled out a narrow 15 to 13 set and match victory.

Los Banos juniors, Sebastian Ramirez, left, and Luis Godina celebrate against Johansen.
