The Tiger boys’ basketball team dropped their first conference game, 63-43, to the Lathrop Spartans last Friday, Jan. 20, in the Tiger gym. The loss created a three-way tie atop the conference, with the Tigers (6-1) sharing first place with the Lathrop Spartans and the Mt. House Mustangs, also 6-1 in league play.

The Tigers had an abysmal night shooting the ball all game long, connecting on only 33 percent of their floor shots, 25 percent of their shots behind the arch, and 50 percent from the charity line.

Angel Resendez led the Tiger offense with 15 points, followed by eight points from Caleb Robertson, and Kayson Welch added seven points. Yahir Zuniga collected nine rebounds to pace the Los Banos defense, followed by Resendez with eight boards.

The JV Tigers fared even worse than their varsity mates, dropping a 60-29 decision to the Spartans.  Eris Ramos (11 points) and Byron Zuniga (10 points) paced the offense, while Zarrick Affonso-Stiers hauled down a game-high six rebounds for Los Banos.

The Freshman Tigers were on the losing end of a 30-25 decision to the Spartans. Christian Sanchez and Josh Gargano led Los Banos in a losing effort.
