Ramon McDonald, a 17-year employee of the Los Banos Police Department was sworn in as the department’s newest Sergeant Tuesday morning, August 23 at the Los Banos City Hall.

McDonald was born and raised in Los Banos and graduated from Los Banos High School in 2000. He has been married to his wife, Stacy for 19 years. They have three children, Gage, Addison and Payton.

He started with the Los Banos Police Department in 2005 as a Community Service Officer. He was sent to the police academy in 2007 by the Los Banos Police Department.

He was assigned to patrol after graduation and completing the field training program. He worked patrol for seven years before being assigned as a detective for four years.

McDonald returned to patrol and was assigned as an Officer in Charge (OIC) in 2021. As an OIC he would supervise a patrol team and assist Sergeants with their shifts.

He is currently assigned as an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) instructor. He works with a team of officers to certify patrol officers in slow and high-speed driving.

He is the team leader for the department UAS (drone) team. He assists patrol with parameter overwatch during emergency situations. He has been a Field Training Officer and has assisted with training new officers over the last 9 years.
