Los Banos Unified School District has been working towards the implementation of Senate Bill 328 which goes into effect in the 2022-2023 school year. Under this new law, California’s middle schools can start required classes no earlier than 8 a.m. and high schools no earlier than 8:30 a.m.
This is another state mandate the district must comply with. A task force was formed and the SB 328 work was facilitated by consultant, Ryan Hahn, from Strategic School Consultants. The team held several meetings. The result of this work created a 20-minute shift in the school start times. The district worked closely with its labor partners to work out the logistical impacts of this required change.
