Los Banos Parks and Recreation Director
The city of Los Banos is thrilled to invite the community to the official grand opening celebration of Sunrise Ranch Park on Saturday, July 26, at 6 p.m.
Located at 2053 Martin Street, near the Los Banos Junior High School, the park has quickly become a favorite local destination since it quietly opened for play earlier this summer.
Sunrise Ranch Park features something for everyone, including shaded picnic tables, adult exercise equipment, a half-court basketball area, cornhole boards and separate play structures designed for both 2 to 5 and 5 to 12-year-olds. It also includes a hill-side slide, which has been a runaway hit with kids and families alike.
This park has been buzzing with activity from the start. Now we’re excited to celebrate it officially with the community.
While the park is fully open for recreation, the final piece of the puzzle—energizing the lights and booster pump—is pending work from PG&E. Once completed, these enhancements will make the park even more vibrant and enjoyable into the evening hours.
Ag Sports Complex getting greener
Also worth celebrating is the progress at the AG Sports Complex, where both ballfields have recently received fresh sod and over 50 new trees have been planted in the outfield areas. While crews are still waiting on the outfield netting and playground installation, the site is looking more game-day ready by the week.
There are also the nine new pickleball courts being constructed at the Ag Sports Complex. Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. Although some PG&E-related delays have created minor setbacks, the courts are still on track to open by September.
Colorado Ballpark improvements coming up
The City’s Parks and Recreation team will provide a progress update to the City Council on July 16 to the Los Banos City Council regarding proposed improvements at Colorado Ballpark.
But for now, mark your calendars and join us at Sunrise Ranch Park on Saturday, July 26 at 6 p.m. to celebrate a beautiful new chapter in Los Banos recreation. Bring your family, your lawn chairs, and your park spirit—we’ll bring the ribbon and the smiles.
