At about 4:45 p.m. May 11 a male driver of a pickup truck traveling east on Cardoza Road crossed over the westbound lane and hit a fire hydrant and a power pole, severing both off at the base. In his path the driver also hit a mailbox and a portion of a front yard hedge.
The driver was not injured. Riggs Ambulance, Los Banos Police, city and county fire departments responded to the scene. The driver passed a field sobriety test administered by Los Banos Police officer Carlos Gomes. The reason for the accident is unknown.
