On May 1, the Los Banos boys tennis team hosted the Placer Hillmen in the first round of the Sac-Joaquin section tennis playoffs, and came away with a 5-4 victory over last year’s division III section champions.
The Tigers won only two of their singles matches, with Yahir Zuniga and Tyler Meza defeating their Placer opponents.
However, Los Banos would sweep all three of their doubles matches, as Nelson Fabian and Drake Fifield, Gracian Indart and Alexis Reyna, and Brody Benton and Sebastian Polini all won their matches to complete the 5-4 victory for the Tigers.
With their victory the Tigers advanced to the second round of the playoffs against Woodside of Roseville on May 6.
