On March 24, the city of Dos Palos held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly refurbished Pierini Park, located at the intersection of Wilson and Merced Street.
According to Dos Palos City Manager Dwayne Jones, the city spent $210,000 on the park’s refurbishment, with the new updates including modernized restrooms, improved storage areas and more, all while maintaining the nostalgia of the park. Furthermore, the park is now compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Pierini Park, which opened on Sept. 17, 1961, was named after an Italian family, one of Dos Palos’ earliest settlers, and since its opening, Pierini Park has remained at its current spot.
The park, according to Jones, is a Little League baseball-style park and helps support the city of Dos Palos’ Little League Baseball program, run by Dos Palos Youth Baseball. The Little League program has a total of twelve teams.
For any baseball lovers out there, Pierini Park remains another historical landmark for the city of Dos Palos.
