This holiday season, the Soroptimist Club at Los Banos High School is embracing the spirit of giving by supporting the residents of New Bethany.

Inspired by the need to help others during the colder winter months, the Soroptimist Club, known as S-Club around campus, has launched its annual blanket drive. With a goal of collecting 50 blankets, the drive aims to provide warmth and comfort to the residents of New Bethany during the holiday season.

Airam Rodriguez, a junior and club officer, shared the motivation behind the initiative sharing.

“The inspiration for this drive came from wanting to help those in need, especially during the winter months,” Rodriguez said.

The blanket drive is more than just a collaborative effort, it’s a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of the residents at New Bethany. For those living in assisted care, the simple gift of a blanket can bring warmth, comfort and a reminder that the community cares about them.

This isn’t the first time the Soroptimist Club has organized such an effort. Last year, the club successfully met its goal and delivered blankets to New Bethany just in time for Christmas.

This year, it hopes to replicate that same success while adding a festive touch with Christmas caroling during the delivery.

This event aligns with the club’s mission of fostering compassion and helping others. Rodriguez said, “It’s about doing our part to assist the community and make someone’s day.”

The blanket drive has also had a positive impact on the Soroptimist Club itself, increasing its visibility on campus and encouraging others to join the club.

“We’ve seen support from people beyond our club, and we hope to inspire other students to get involved in helping those in need,” Rodriguez said.

With this annual drive, the Soroptimist Club reminds the school community of the importance of giving back and spreading kindness during the holidays.
