Dos Palos Mayor Katy Reed called it a very important investment in the city’s future.
Last week, Congressman Adam Gray came to town to celebrate $1.1 million that Dos Palos was awarded to fund a new water treatment plant to address the city’s wastewater needs.
“As a small community with extremely limited financial resources, Dos Palos faces significant challenges in funding major wastewater improvements while maintaining affordable services for our residents,” Reed explained.
“This grant is a tremendous investment in our community and in the future of the Dos Palos wastewater treatment plant.”
At the presentation, Gray stated, “It’s good to be back in Dos Palos.”
He added that another $1 million in funding will be used for the County Service Area 44 sewer treatment project, which will consolidate two aging facilities serving the Castello Estates and Linne Estates into a single, modern treatment plant located in San Joaquin County.
“We secured $2 million in federal funding for two wastewater projects to replace aging facilities and keep District 13 moving forward,” Gray added. “It’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of investment that keeps Central Valley communities running and growing.”
Reed said this funding will allow the city to make critical improvements that would otherwise be beyond the city’s financial reach.
“This grant will help us address essential repairs and upgrades that will improve the reliability and efficiency of our wastewater system and reduce the risk of costly emergency repairs,” Reed said.
“Most importantly, this investment protects public health, our environment and our community’s future. As mayor, I am proud to see this critical funding come to Dos Palos and grateful for the opportunity to strengthen an essential part of our city’s infrastructure for generations to come.”
After his Dos Palos visit, Gray ventured to Mendota to announce $2 million in federal community project funding for the Mendota Community Center.
