The Los Banos Wildcats youth football teams took on a tough Turlock Bulldogs program this weekend, coming away with two wins across four levels.
The Wildcats Rookies continued their strong play with a 20-0 shutout. Iverson Johnson led the offense with another big performance, rushing for more than 100 yards and scoring two touchdowns to help power Los Banos to the win.
At the Pee Wee level, the Wildcats battled but fell to the Bulldogs, 26-12.
The JV Wildcats turned in an impressive performance, earning a big win over Turlock. Jehziah Rivera helped lead the way offensively, finding the end zone twice as Los Banos secured the victory.
At the varsity level, Los Banos faced an undefeated foe and fell 30-8. Receiver Junior Wilson was a bright spot for the Wildcats, finishing with 4 receptions for 80 yards and the lone touchdown.
The Wildcats will now turn their attention to Saturday, when all four levels return home to host the Merced Knights at Pacheco High’s Veterans Stadium.
Tigers go 2-1 after Bye
After a Bye Week, the Tigers got back on the gridiron at Mendota.
Maverick Rasberry and Aaron Cobian ran for several touchdowns as the Tigers Pee Wee squad posted a 42-0 shutout.
The Juniors took a tough loss.
Then Manuel Castillo had a great offensive night for the Seniors with two receiving touchdowns from Jordan Rodriguez. Mason Rasberry posted a few sacks to lead the defense.
For the Sportsmanship Awards after each game, Exavier Sanchez took the honor in Mighty Mites, Maverick Rasberry in PWs, Elias Hernandez in Juniors and Castillo in Seniors.
The Tigers host County Line this Saturday at Los Banos High’s Loftin Stadium.
Broncos sweep Falcons
Quarterback Angel Corchado scored two rushing touchdowns, and running backs Cameron Johnson and Mion Smith each found the end zone as the Dos Palos Juniors won 26-12 in Firebaugh.
The Broncos also won 25-0 in Pee Wees and 40-0 in Seniors.
“We dominated the game from the start, scoring on our first play from scrimmage with a 72-yard run by Abram Galindo,” said Dos Palos Seniors coach Anthony Goncalves, who also credited QB Stratten Wooten for 98 yards and a TD in the air.
The Broncos host Madera Ranchos on Saturday.
The Falcons have a Bye Week and then travel to Chowchilla on Sept. 19.
