The Los Banos High School track and field team delivered a powerful performance at their third Central California Conference (CCC) league meet of the season, hosted in a home atmosphere as all participating schools came together to honor their senior athletes.

Competing against Merced, Golden Valley, Atwater, El Capitan and Buhach Colony, the day was a celebration of both athletic achievement and senior recognition.

“At our third league meet of the season, the team delivered strong performances across all levels.

Before the meet began, all schools took time to honor senior athletes, a special moment to celebrate their dedication and impact on the program,” said head coach Michael Salaz.

The Junior Varsity (JV) teams had a standout day, with the JV Boys taking home first-place overall and the JV Girls earning a strong second-place finish. Several athletes recorded personal bests, showcasing the team’s continued improvement and depth.

Among the night’s standout performances was senior Ava Felix, who made the most of her final home league meet.

Felix claimed second-place in the 100-meter hurdles, contributed to the varsity girls’ 4×100 relay team and added valuable points in the long jump.

In the JV distance races, Ayden Sandoval dominated, taking first place in both the 800 meters and 1600 meters.

His leadership and consistency have helped drive the distance squad’s success this season.

Jayden Howard also made a major impact, sprinting to victories in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events. He capped off his night by anchoring the 4×400 relay team, which earned a strong second-place finish.

While both of the varsity teams placed 6th in their 3rd meet, they look to rebuild and improve for future seasons.

There are many young athletes who seek to improve their game and be ready for what comes next.

Coach Salaz expressed his pride in the team’s development and progression and spirit throughout the season:

“We’re proud of the entire team’s effort this season and are excited to see who will advance to Sections at the Championship Meet in Atwater.”
