The Los Banos High School softball team put together a dominant performance on April 17, defeating Buhach Colony 15-3 in a game that showcased both offensive firepower and solid pitching. The Tigers tallied 15 runs on 11 hits in a true team effort that had nearly every player contributing to the scoreboard.

The standout of the day was Avery Vierra, who led the charge at the plate with two hits and four RBIs, driving in crucial runs to help extend Los Banos’s early lead. The entire offense was dialed in, with eight different players crossing the plate.

Mikayla Arista and Adrianna Hernandez each scored three runs, while Mya Arista, Shayla Hernandez, and Vierra chipped in two apiece. Mikayla Luna, Jaylee Smith, and Maliyah Salaz each added one run to round out the impressive scoring total.

In the pitching circle, Mya Arista delivered a strong performance, going five innings while allowing only two earned runs and striking out five. Her composure and control helped keep Buhach Colony from getting any kind of comeback, allowing her team’s offense to shine.

“The girls have been working hard, so it’s always nice when they can get a win,” said head coach Ronnie Barton. He noted that while the team hasn’t stacked up as many wins as they would’ve liked this season, they’ve shown potential and promise. “We haven’t won as many games as we would like, but we have played in eight one-run games this year with a young team, so hopefully they are learning from those games and that will help them next year.”

The victory is a bright spot in a season filled with tough, close games. As the team looks toward finishing strong, performances like this one provide hope for the future.
