The Los Banos High School wrestling teams, both boys and girls, recently faced off against El Capitan High School in a match that showcased the dedication and skill of these young athletes. The dual meet, held at El Capitan High School, drew an enthusiastic crowd of supporters waiting to see the intense competition between these two schools.

The boys team from Los Banos showed remarkable strength on the mat with several standout performances.

Senior captain Brokton Borelli led by example, securing a victory in his weight class with a series of takedowns and pins. His leadership and experience were apparent as he motivated his teammates throughout the match.

Other notable performances included Marthell Buenrostro, who showed exceptional skills and agility, earning a hard-fought win against a tough opponent from El Capitan by pin. The boys went on to win 45-30

The girls team also put on an impressive display of strength and determination. Junior, Angelina Borelli, who is ranked as the number two wrestler in California, continued showing why she’s at the top. Unfortunately, the Lady Tigers ended up losing by criteria with a score of 36-36.

The boys JV team also put on a great performance. They ended up winning as a team 42-33. They were led by sophomore Jaiden Hernandez who won his match by a pin.

The wrestling match between Los Banos High School and El Capitan High School was filled with strong performances from both the boys and girls teams, Los Banos High School’s wrestling program continues to thrive, promising an exciting season ahead.

On Wednesday, Jan. 22nd the undefeated Los Banos Tiger wrestling team hosted the Atwater Falcons and the Buhach Colony Thunder in a quad dual match on the Los Banos High School campus.

The Tigers behind their outstanding Senior (and Stanford University bound), Brockton Borelli defeated both of their CCC conference opponents to remain undefeated in the 2025 league season.

Los Banos defeated the Falcons by the score of 44-36, and then routed the Thunder by the score of 50-24.

Coach Larry Borelli praised the effort of his entire team, noting that Kolton Kanemoto, Michael Coelho and Marthel Buenrostro all contributed to the dual victory.

This past weekend, the Tigers showcased their grit and determination at the 2025 MidCals Classic, one of the toughest wrestling tournaments in California, hosted at Gilroy High School. Competing against 123 teams from across the region, the Tigers left it all on the mat and brought home incredible results.

Individual Placements: Marthell Buenrostro – 6th Place; Brokton Borelli – 1st Place (Champion); Angelina Borelli – 1st Place (Champion)

Team Results: 18th High Team Overall out of 123 teams, despite competing with only 10 wrestlers. 19th High Team in the Boys’ Division out of 123 teams, with only 7 wrestlers representing.
