William (Bill) Leroy Stone was born on November 26, 1936, in Los Banos, CA to Francis Stone and Rose (Paradiso) Stone. Bill passed away peacefully on July 2, 2023.
Bill attended Los Banos High School and graduated in 1954. He then served in the United States Army from 1955-1957 before receiving an honorable discharge and returning to Los Banos.
On June 18,1961, he married Shirlee Mae Iten of Aberdeen, South Dakota at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Los Banos whom he remained with until her death in 2015.
Bill moved to Coalinga, CA in 1970 while working for Shell Oil Company (pipeline division) for 28 years. He retired in 1994. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, firearms, and spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by their four sons and their spouses, William (Kelly) Stone of Bakersfield, CA, Dan (Margarita) Stone of Folsom, CA, Dave (Kelly) Stone of Coalinga, CA, Mike Stone of Coalinga, CA, five grandchildren, Travis (Katie), Jordan (Kevin Bohannon), Tayler (Caleb Scherrer), Cade, Katie Rose, and two great grandchildren, Quincy and Broc.
Services will be held at the San JoaquÃn Valley National Cemetery,
32053 McCabe Rd, Santa Nella, CA 95322 on July 14, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be sent to the St. Paul’s Catholic Church of Coalinga, CA.
