The Los Banos Tiger varsity volleyball team recorded its third win and second Western Athletic Conference victory with a 3 set to 0 shutout against the Johansen Vikings.

The Tigers claimed the first set when Ella Cascia slammed home the winning shot and a 25-17 decision.

Ashley Pafford closed out the second set when she blocked a Viking shot at the net and the Tigers had a 25-9 set win.

With the score 24-18, the shutout was complete when the Viking servers’ shot hit the net and the Tigers earned the decisive point to close out the set and the match, 25-18.

Coach Isaac Soliz praised the effort of his team saying,”They really played great all match, Moxie (Barton), Maddie (Jasso), Cami (Curutchague), Ella (Cascia) and Ashley (Pafford) were all over the court making great saves and excellent shots.”

With their victory the Tigers improved to 3-5 on the season and 2-1 in WAC play. 

The Tigers returned to the court Sept. 15, when they hosted the Ceres Bulldogs in the Tiger gym.

Both the freshman (5-3) and junior varsity (3-5) teams also claimed shutout (2-0) victories against the Vikings. 

Mira Sohm (an Exchange student from Australia) and Shayla Hernandez had excellent matches for the junior varsity in their straight set win against Johansen.
