The freshman football teams from both Los Banos and Pacheco high schools were on the gridiron Aug. 25, with very different results.

The frosh Panthers recorded their second consecutive shutout victory with a score of 24-0 against Central Valley at Veterans Stadium in Los Banos.

Two long touchdowns runs by Julian Flores and a short score from Adam Loretto combined with a 25-yard scoring pass from Jaylen Mendoza to Julius Sams provided Pacheco with 24 unanswered points.

At Loftin Stadium, the Los Banos freshman team was shutout by the Hilmar Yellowjackets, 26-0.  Roy Guillen scored twice for Hilmar, once on a 39-yard run and another on a 47-yard interception return.

The Yellowjackets added two more scores, one a 37-yard run by Jacob Sward and another on a 53-yard fumble recovery by Uriel Solis.

There were some bright spots for the young Tigers, Nicholas Almanza and James Jones each recovered Hilmar fumbles, and Damien Calderon recorded seven tackles and intercepted a Yellowjacket pass.
