The Los Banos PAL (Police Activities League) has been organizing Junior Giants baseball in our community since its inception in 1994.

Los Banos is one of a few cities that has been playing youth baseball every summer for the past 28 years. Junior Giants is a free, coed activity for kids, ages 5-13. Anyone can participate.

During this summer’s PAL baseball season, which recently concluded, Los Banos had 357 players and 104 volunteers this summer involved in PAL games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the “Buster Posey” PAL ballfields on 7th street.

There are 24,000 children across California, Nevada and Oregon that play Junior Giants baseball each year. But the Junior Giants program is more than just baseball.

The program includes a healthy eating component as well as an education component to encourage summertime reading. “Strikeout bullying” is also a message that the children learn during the program.

Each week the kids learn a Word of the Week, and during four of these weeks they learn the four basics of character development, teamwork, leadership and integrity.

The Giants Community Fund provides all the equipment, jerseys, pants, hats, incentives and any resources needed to encourage the kids to finish the season.

The kids enjoy playing Junior Giants; they love the fact that it’s not competitive, where they can just have fun and play baseball and softball. The Los Banos PAL would like to thank all of the coaches, parents and volunteers that helped to make the 2022 Los Banos Junior Giants season a great success.
