The Los Banos Unified School District has announced that Tywan L. Lawrence was selected as the new principal for Creekside Junior High School following the promotion of Carolina Moreno, effective July 1.

Lawrence is an experienced educator working with diverse groups in North Carolina, Tennessee and California. He has instructional leadership experience across multiple learning modalities, including AVID, Improvement Science, Project-based Learning and Learning-focused Concepts. 

Most recently, Lawrence worked with the Merced City School District as an assistant principal and eighth-grade dean at Rivera Middle School, where he led the work of AVID implementation and class section expansion. After two years of implementation Rivera now has seventh- and eighth-grade AVID elective classes. 

Prior to Rivera, Lawrence worked as an assistant elementary school principal at Ayer Elementary School in Fresno.

In 2020, Lawrence entered the doctoral program at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, and is currently completing his capstone research project. He plans to graduate with an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership in Fall 2023. He is committed to ensuring students reach their full academic potential.
